Our Port Elliot holiday home, Beachcomber, is on the beachfront situated overlooking Horseshoe Bay. The Jetty, Soldier’s Memorial Gardens, Port Elliot historic railway station, Port Elliot Hotel and the Port Elliot Bakery are just a stroll away.

Encounter Holiday Rentals, our family owns and operates Beachcomber! Our journey began in 1999 when we purchased our first holiday home. We are an Australian family business. We pride ourselves in offering first class personal service and spotless, comfortable holiday beach accommodation for short term stays.

Our Port Elliot beach house is beautifully appointed, quality linen supplied, beds made up for your arrival and servicing on departure is included. A recipe for a wonderful holiday.

Beachcomber has three bedrooms for up to six guests.

We offer one, two or three bedroom stays most of the year, just book what you need and save!

From a romantic escapes for a couple or a solo break, to family reunions and holidays, we can offer spotless accommodation to suit every need and occasion at an affordable price.

. For guests who previously stayed at Meridian and Neptune (both sold 2023) there are special rates for one bedroom stays at Beachcomber.

. Our seasonal specials commence each year from February to November.

. Seasonal specials are not available on published long weekends, Easter and the Summer school holidays.

Port Elliot Attractions

The historic township of Port Elliot is situated on the coastline between the towns of Victor Harbor and Middleton. Take in the magnificent coastal scenery from its many viewing spots or follow the coastal walks around the headlands and protected bays.

Frolic on the sand and in the waters. Horseshoe Bay is a protected swimming beach which is very popular with families all year round while Knight’s Beach is one of the top 10 body boarding beaches in the world. Boomer Beach is perfect for surf enthusiasts who want to catch that wave.

If whale watching is your thing, visit between May and September annually to view the migration of whales to this coastal area who travel here to feed and give birth to their young.

Apart from our beautiful beaches, while in Port Elliot: Enjoy a trip along the coast on the first railway in Australia The Cockle Train, stroll around the coast taking in the scenery and views from the many coastal lookouts, explore The Strand’s cafes, historical buildings, clothing boutiques, antique stores, book shops and galleries, hire a bicycle and ride the Encounter Bikeway from Goolwa to Victor Harbor (passes by the doorstep of our homes), play a round of golf or visit the many local wineries.

The location was even better than we’d expected. The views were amazing and ever-changing. We spent many relaxing hours soaking up the sights and sounds of the ocean, all from the comfort of our ‘home away from home’.

A relaxing stay at Beachcomber!

Needed a weekend away late December and could not have asked for a better place to spend some time off! The location could not be any more perfect – a mere 5-minute walk and you’ll find yourself at Horseshoe Bay or a little further to the famous Port Elliot Bakery. Philip and Wendy were a delight to liaise with which made the booking, the checking in and checking out process was so smooth.

Probably one of the most relaxing weekend getaways I have ever had, and am already planning another one in a couple of months here again!

Enjoyable Accommodation at Beachcomber

Once again, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beachcomber. Apart from being a very comfortable abode, we love the view from the balcony onto Horseshoe Bay. The sight and sound of the sea is so relaxing.

Furthermore, the proximity to all the central features of Port Elliot means that the car stays home and we walk around.

Looking forward to another stay in the foreseeable future.
